ROAD TO RAINBOW

By Mo Asumang

SYNOPSIS

The afro-german woman Mo Asumang views the situation before the first Soccer World Cup taking place on the African Continent, as her chance to get a different kind of view of South Africa, a view behind the curtain. She travels to South and searches for the lost Vision of the Rainbow Nation. Together with the comedian Kagiso Lediga, who is her tour guide they travel in a shaky old mini-bus to her various destinations.
Mo Asumang gives all of the strata of society a chance to speak out. Including politicians and other known people, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, F.W. deKlerk ( former president of South Africa) Helen Zille (Democratic Alliance), Apartheid Activist Alan Boesak, Geoff Doidge (ANC Minister) who in turn give their opinions on the Rainbow Nation. This was the Vision for South Africa that was supposed to replace the apartheid era. But did that really happen?
Mo and Kagiso find the truth in the lives of street children, township families, in the vicinity of crime and security, talking with geriatrics from an old-age home for Germans in Johannesburg and making a friend with the little boy Inganathi, who is HIV positive and with whom she gets connected. Everyone must be given the chance to speak out. They all contribute to the image of a changing African society and prepare the viewer for the 2010 World Cup in an entertaining, profound, and, above all, in a provocative way.
